Indulgences, Redux

Five hundred years after the Reformation, western society is looking at a repeat of the Protestant movement, complete with pay-to-play indulgences. This time around, the favor offered is green cards -- admission to the Land of Plenty itself -- instead of forgiveness. The money sought is not a "contribution to the Church," but instead an investment in a private company. And the people holding access are no longer priests but newly appointed Cabinet members.

The narrative transpose from Church-and-soul to Corporations-and-access seamlessly, and it's no less disturbing.

Kushner, Inc. Ought to beware protesting monks, who might in this iteration look an awful lot like Robert Mueller.
