I love long weekends.
This holiday saw a lot of hanging out together, movie watching, and project making. The boys were a delight, even when I was a bit stressy, and we have a ton of projects waiting in the wings: a knit blanket for me; a knit trench coat for Vivian; a knit blanket designed by Ethan; a scarf, hat and gloves set designed by Graeme; and everyday cloaks for the boys. Completed this weekend were a flannel day dress for Vivian and custom dice bags for each of the boys.
No swing dance tonight, as Graeme and I will be working on finishing up a US History project to turn in on Friday. Mostly this involves him working on the project pieces and parts while I sit nearby and knit, being available to answer questions and prevent distraction.
Ethan has decided he is having a LAN party for his birthday. So far games include (but are by no means limited to) City of Heroes, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, some racing games, Modern Warfare, and Halo (various incarnations). He is working on the official invitation and guest list, and if you want to be on it, I'm certain he would love to hear from you.
Fresh herbs are in abundance in the container garden, and featured prominently in a lovely recipe Mary whipped up of English muffin pizzas. They were totally yummy, and the fresh basil and oregano added just the right savoriness of summer. Tonight I'm thinking red meat of some variety, and am looking forward to finding out what is in The Box from the farm.
When I'm not gabbing with the girls, knitting and cooking and watching, I've been reading Gods of Gotham. The more I read, the more I want to. I'm about a quarter of the way through, and I'm falling in love with the characters as much as wanting to know what happens next.
