Today David and I harvested a handful of snowpeas from a few plants that the deer seem to have missed. They were perfectly sweet, bursting with flavor, and just the right accompaniment to the season's first few blueberries. The over-achieving tomato plant has a large, ripening fruit that is more red than green, while the pepper plants have flowers and fruit in various stages of development and the purple green bean plants are up. Not to be outdone, the cucumber and watermelon plants have flowers, and the garlic and shallots are putting on their own spiky show.
It's beginning to look a lot like summer.
