on the home front

This weekend we mostly just poked around together as a family. Friday afternoon report from Ethan's teacher was simply glowing, and that gave us all a turn for the better. It was also the first day of our new sitter, who is simply wonderful and seems really to enjoy her after-school job and the boys. After dropping her back at her house, we all trundled down the hill for a celebratory dinner out. By the time we got home, we were all in a bit of a cozy stupor.

Saturday we went to RePlay and found some cool games, went to Barnes&Noble and found some movies and books, and then got home with just enough time to watch the first episode of Gargoyls (season 2). Confession: we are all four of us totally hooked on this cartoon. The game we had purchased previously played was cool, but had loading issues. We returned it to Blockbuster before we went to RePlay, which is a shame, since the folks at RePlay have a resurfacer that would have likely taken care of the issue for us. Sunday we cleaned up and did more organizational work (which is more physically taxing than one might imagine) in between a morning viewing of King Arthur and watching our new copy of Ratatouille.

TheEx finally sent back Ethan's report card that he made off with over a week ago, and SheEx finally understands that our home is not any part of her world. All in all, it was a lovely weekend. I even found time and energy to read a bit. David was reading next to me, laughing so hard that finally we both gave up and he read the first story in Asimov's Azazel to me. We both laughed, and I can't wait to read more.
