While we were in Barnes & Noble today, David found The Dangerous Book for Boys and put it in my hands. One look inside, and I knew I had to buy it. In it you will find all the truly great things that every boy needs. As I read through it, I couldn't help but wish that I had had this book as a child, and to have had a friend with whom to discover its secrets. Reading it made me feel like a kid again, ever ready to seize upon adventure, to help opportunity knock, and to laugh in the face of happenstance.
I bought a copy for David, my best friend. I look forward to the coming decades in ways I never imagined. (Did I mention that he gave me a penknife?)
