inspiration

The first vegetable delivery came last night. The box contained a head of lettuce, two lovely tomatoes, some sweet potatoes, and yellow crookneck squash. (I should have taken a picture of the harvest, but we were too excited and I didn't think of it until just now. Next week.) We made a delightful salad of the lettuce and tomato, and added fresh basil from the garden. It was delicious, as was the squash, sliced and sauteed in butter with garlic and a dash of salt. Serious yumminess is on the horizon. Let the kitchen inspiration begin.
M: Why do hems have to drop out when you are out and can't do a thing about it?
H: Because the Grand Unified Theory was written by cats.
M: I can accept that.
I didn't make it to swing dance class last night; the abs, while recovering, were still achy and I was worn out from having little sleep. I think I'm nearly recovered now. Chocolate covered strawberries from the bake sale at work are definitely helping.

I found a throw pillow (and a rice sock, and a few other odds and ends) wedged down in the recliner yesterday while looking for Graeme's phone (no, we still haven't found it). Don't ask how a whole pillow (and oddments) ended up completely disappeared into a recliner; that isn't important right now. The point is that I discovered the throw pillow that I thought was lost, and can now begin to decide what to cover it in (trust me -- it needs a new cover).I am finding a lot of helpful articles and much inspiration at cottage magpie, including a zipper-free pillow cover pattern complete with illustrations. While I'm at it, I think I'll take some of the flannel and make a cover for the rice sock.
