Reading Log: Shape Up at Delilah's

Scott's "Shape Up at Delilah's" is lively and quirky and filled with characters you know and wish, at times, that you didn't. The religious theme weaves and darts like a dragonfly above a pond as barber shop skills are rendered a sacred, transcendental experience. She who wields the clippers is a goddess and a threat to all mankind. Notably unthreatened, she reveals her secrets and, Cassandra-like, is not believed, and so she tells them what they want to hear, in the chair and out, but no one can deny her artistry.
