Logan

Logan was more violent, more vulgar, darker and more real than any XMen movie yet, one far removed from traditional superhero offerings. This has more of an Alan Moore feel than that of Sam Raimi.

It exists way outside the frame, long after the images have stopped rolling by, and it's more visceral because of the narrative that continues than for any lingering graphic rendering of a fight scene.

Themes of redemption, the inescapability of reckoning, and our role in our lives and in the lives of others make this worth the price of admission.

Not a popcorn film.
