hope with hope

After John Edwards endorsed Obama in Michigan last night, my dormant and nearly-dead hope that Edwards would become the Vice Presidential candidate received a breath of life. This would be a ticket that would make my heart sing.

It did me good to hear Obama make his position on domestic poverty clear, and Edwards has been more vocal about that than any other politician I've heard to date. We live in the United States of America, for Pete's sake: why are we dealing with poverty and indigence at such an alarming rate? What in the world would Jefferson think of our wealth when it has been used to pilfer the environment and divide us into castes?

Could it be, o please, that this trend ends now?
